The machine is an industrial ring wire binding machine capable of binding a full range of 3:1 and 2:1 pitch wire sizes up to 28.5mm. It also forms inserts calendar hangers as required with the main setup via a digital control panel, according to the company.
Rod Fowler says, “The machine is so fast that we had to supply a conveyor to catch the books coming off the machine. The operation is very simple and once it has been setup, does not require trained staff to operate.”
He continues, “Basically the operator just places the book block against a side lay and presses the pedal. This is the fastest machine in its class.”
Also at the RENZ Masterbind stand, the company will be showcasing the SC2 Automatic Case Maker from the US based manufacturer GP2. The machine is capable of producing up to 300 cases per hour using unskilled labour and is ideal for medium to long run case binding and provides a quick return on investment, according to the company.
Fowler says, “This is a perfect partner to our range of Schmedt casing-in equipment which we also represent in Australia. By using the SC2 case maker alongside the Schmedt casing-in machine, we can provide an efficient, semiautomatic solution end-to-end for the hard case bookbinding process.”
He adds, “This is ideal for short to medium run work with mixed sizes and formats typical in the Photo Book market.”
