Visual Impact Sydney is set to feature a Photo & Fine Art expo, showcasing the growing importance of digital wide-format inkjet print for the reproduction of photographic and art reproduction on a wide range of materials.

The Photo & Fine Art Expo, which will be located on the show floor at the Sydney show, will feature a display of outstanding imagery, and will be supported by suppliers to the sector including Kayell Australia, Epson, Spicers, Canon and Starleaton.

Kayell Australia will run daily workshops on ‘The Fine Art of Inkjet Printing’. Limited to 12 people at each session, they are designed to expose attendees to new possibilities and digital imaging practices and will be run by experienced staff who specialise in fine art printing and workflows. Sessions will cost $50 per person and includes a free A3 print of the attendee’s choice on selected Canson Infinity art paper.

Visual Impact will run from 3 – 5 May at Sydney Olympic Park

Visual Impact said the demand for museum-quality work is growing at around eight per cent, according to some sources, with top-level printers used to reproduce images on everything from specialist papers, to canvas and other media.

It added that photography is increasingly making inroads into the art collection and investment market, with editioned prints from both established ‘names’ and contemporary cutting-edge photographers now widely accepted as equally desirable as paintings for collectors and those keen to invest.

Both paintings and photographic images have also entered the NFT digital asset market, with a growing number of images – and mixed media compilations – now available on digital platforms as well as in physical form.

This growth in interest, coupled with the increasing sophistication and capabilities of wide-format inkjet printers, is tempting many businesses in the print, sign and display market to move into this high-value market.

While many can use existing kit to capitalise on opportunities, Visual Impact said understanding the market – and identifying the right customers – is a key to success; so the opportunity to learn more and talk to the experts is expected to make the expo area a popular destination at the show for forward-thinking businesses.

Visual Impact Sydney will run from 3 – 5 May at the Sydney Showground, Sydney Olympic Park. Click here to register for Visual Impact, and to find out more or reserve your place at the Kayell workshops, follow this link
