Visy takes award for environmental sustainability

Earlier this year, Visy completed an extension and upgrade of its pulp and recycled paper mill at Tumut, which is said to be heralded as one of the world’s most environmentally sustainable. Visy’s commitment to consulting with environmental and community groups and the Tumut mill’s sustainability features were highlighted in its award entry.

Tony Gray, director of public affairs at Visy says, “Tumut Mill is our flagship plant. It’s a leading example of the way Visy embraces the three pillars of sustainability – economic, environmental and community engagement,”

The Australian Business Awards honour organisations that demonstrate the core values of business excellence, product excellence, sustainability and commercial success in their respective industries.

The awards, which are open to all Australian companies and organisations, attracted 1849 separate entries from 962 organisations this year.
