WA Newspapers squeaky clean after $250k spend

The Flexowash PK350 FL, supplied by Jet Technologies, has helped reduce press maintenance times and bring press hall cleanliness up to an all-time high, at the company’s Perth-based print plant

Jet Technologies director Jack Malki said that despite the significant price, the newspaper printer had seen immediate payback.

West Australian Newspapers printing manager Gary Owens (pictured) told ProPrint that machine had reduced cleaning time by 75%.

“Our process before was to have two to three cleaners hand clean the guards,” he said.

“This would take at least one full shift, if not more, dependent on how dirty they were. The current process is less than one quarter of that time.”

Owens added that the press hall was now the cleanest it had ever been and staff could be more productive.

Malki said the machine was the first of its kind to be installed in Australia and New Zealand.

“Printers in all fields are recognising the need to operate in a clean environment in order to achieve optimal print results and also with regards to providing a good working environment for their staff,” he said.
