Woolies and Coles mags top circulation

Printed magazines produced from Australia’s grocery giants Woolworths and Coles stand as the highest circulation magazines in Australia, according to the latest metrics from emma audience reports.

Coles self-titled monthly mag has a print run of 1.5 million, and is printed by IPMG, while the Woolies magazine Fresh has a print run of 750,000, and is printed by Hannanprint.

However Woolworths Fresh snagged an impressive readership of 3.7 million, whilst Cole’s had 3.2 million readers over the same period between March 2015 and February 2016.

Both grocery chains took the two highest spots on the print magazine audience report, with lifestyle magazine Better Homes and Gardens trailing behind with an audience of 2.1 million for the year, and Australian Woman’s Weekly with 1.9 million readers.

The impressive print circulation for the retailers follows news Coles and Woolworth’s department store division Big W are set to shrink print marketing expenditure on catalogues and newspaper inserts.

In an age where print marketing has taken a backseat, retail print marketing maintains strong readership and harnesses buying power from its static printed content.

Department store David Jones recently announced it will soon begin circulation of a print magazine with a 250,000 print run per seasonal issue.
