Canon says the new Océ ColorWave 700 is a workhorse for plans, maps, and colour graphics that will make printers more competitive. It says the wide format printer is cost-effective, space-saving and is ideal for printing businesses that want to offer new wide format services, such as poster and roll-up banner as well as standard plan and map printing.
It is also aimed at businesses requiring a higher print volume, including reprographics, sign and display printers and in-house printing applications in industries like retail, hospitality, point-of-sale, education and government. Haydn Wills, product manager at Canon, says Océ wide format printers are ‘the benchmark in productivity and simplicity’ for plan printing because they can produce short-run point-of-sale colour specialties more economically with no start-up time or complex finishing. He says, “What we have here is effectively a whole business in a box. Colour and black & white are converging in our world and we are meeting that market demand once again by expanding our core large format capabilities to help our customers become more competitive. “The ColorWave 700 offers a combination of plan, map and graphical application versatility. It offers high speed, productive printing and operational simplicity that meet the rapidly changing needs of professional print providers.” Wills says, the new printer will allow companies to expand their services with Océ MediaSense technology, which lets them print on thicker media (up to 0.8 mm). The system can print up to 1800 A1 CAD drawings or 640 high-quality posters per eight-hour working day. It can also print on low-cost uncoated media or high-end specialties. He says, “Commercial printers can use the Océ ColorWave 700 to consolidate their wide format plan and map printing along with graphical applications onto one easy-to-use system, which can replace multiple colour inkjet printing systems and improve efficiency.” “The Océ ColorWave 700 is constructed of durable, hard-wearing parts and is supported by remote service to ensure high uptime with fewer jams, less downtime and fewer service calls.” The printer is now available and will be showcased at PrintEx15, held on May 13-15 in Sydney Olympic Park, where visitors can see the system in action.
