Computershare installs Brisbane’s first high-volume inkjet

Computershare Communication Services, the business process outsourcing arm of the share registry giant, will boost its high-volume colour capacity in Brisbane with a machine installed at its West End site by December. It will be the third Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 for the group following installs in Sydney and Melbourne in 2010.

It will also improve West End’s speed-to-market for transactional documents, simplify the production and generate efficiencies, according to Ricoh.

The InfoPrint 5000 can reach speeds of 128 metres per minute and produce 1,832 full-colour single-sided A4 prints per minute.

Ricoh managing director Les Richardson said the machine represented “a significant investment” by Computershare and would be Brisbane’s first colour continuous-feed inkjet device.

“The Ricoh InfoPrint 5000 boasts a reliable track record as well as high throughput coupled with colour consistency and ease of use,” he said.

“The ‘white roll in’ and any ‘colour output out’ provides significant productivity increases opposed to traditional pre-printed shell cut-sheet printing.”

The BPO sector has seen significant upheaval in the past six months, with market leader Salmat acquired by Fujifilm for $325 million and third player SEMA bought out of administration in June.
