Embellishing expert Avon Graphics helps Fuji Xerox create digital with punch

The trade finishing house added special effects to around two-thirds of a booklet promoting the Clear Dry Ink available with the Fuji Xerox Color 800 and Color 1000.

Avon Graphics sales manager Tate Hone told the PacPrint Daily the finishes included high-build UV, screen UV, foil stamping and hand-tooled, sculpted embossing.

Hone hoped that Avon Graphics could teach digital printers how to get the best value out of embellishing digital jobs.

For instance, while printers liked to gang as many business cards as possible when printing digitally to minimise click costs, Hone said that if they wanted to then embellish the cards, it was more cost-effective to gang fewer cards, hence reducing the number of dies that needed to be produced.

“Instead of putting business cards 21-up on a sheet, talk to us first because it might be cheaper to print it 4-up or 8-up.”

Fuji Xerox industry marketing manager Stephen Ball said Fuji Xerox partnered with Avon because “the market needs to be aware that these services are available in short-run on high-end digital output”.

Ball added that the booklet was intended to “leverage the capabilities provided in some presses, such as the Clear Dry Ink in the 800 and 1000, as well as the exciting results that can be achieved in partnership with trade experts such as Avon Graphics”.
