Focus Press gets ISO 12647 colour certified on Komori Lithrone perfector

The Sydney-based printer said it was granted certification on the 10-colour Lithrone S40P perfecting press after working with Jason Hall from colour consultants CMYKit to pass the “rigorous” testing process required by Ugra audit body GASAA.

Focus pre-press manager David D’Astoli said the hard work was “definitely worthwhile”.

“Firstly, I am happy that Focus Press chose to go with CMYKit and the quality results achieved,” he said.

“CMYKit worked with us, tweaking our existing equipment and procedures to integrate into our ISO 9001 system, allowing us to achieve the requirements for Ugra PSO.

“The most powerful outcome of the whole process is that the printers are now able to run to densities derived by CMYKit. The print and proof match every time in quick time.”

GASAA executive officer Garry Knespal, one of the trade body’s two independent auditors, said: “The team at Focus Press met all of the international colour standard operation procedures required for the PSO.

“They produced high-quality proofs, plates and multiple print samples that passed in every respect both under on-site test conditions and rigorous scientific measuring at the Ugra laboratory in Switzerland.

“It is a credit to the capabilities and technology at Focus Press and the implementation work done by CMYKit, which allow them to consistently achieve this print quality and verified through independent and rigorous audit conditions,” added Knespal.
