Procter steps up to broader role

The face of Konica Minolta in the printing industry David Procter has been promoted to the newly-created role of national sales director, overseeing the performance of all the company’s divisions in Australia.

Konica Minolta national sales manager of production print George Fryer has been promoted to replace Procter as general manager of the division.

Procter has led the Konica Minolta production print team for the past eight years, and its stellar performance since entering the graphic arts market is largely credited to his leadership.

The digital printer vendor has gone from non-player to major player under Procter’s tenure, with almost everyone who is considering buying a digital press now having KM on its short list at least.

In his new role looking after the entire KM business Procter will now oversee the performance of each state, and all its market sectors, aiming to increase the company’s market share in its key sectors.

Konica Minolta Business Solutions Australia managing director David Cooke says Procter will also look after the government, education, commercial and production print markets, as well as maintaining his relationship with the production sales teams.

“We have appointed David specifically for the strong leadership and energy he can bring to the sales function,” he says.

“He has an excellent grasp of the benefits our customers seek from print and workflow solutions, a skill that will be critical to the way we move forward.”

Procter says he will take on the challenge of increasing Konica Minolta’s market share in sectors where optimising business processes is a priority.

“I have always believed we need the best people and it will be my role to provide the motivation and enthusiasm to continue the growth strategy,” he says.

Cooke says the Australian Business Solutions division managed to buck market trend in the last financial year, increasing its sales revenues.

“Last year, we doubled our sales revenue for software and services. We also registered record hardware sales results, which defied industry trends,” he says.

“We are focused on making Konica Minolta an agile and responsive business partner, in a technological sense and in terms of the way we service our customers.

Fryer says: “We are entering a really rapid phase of growth, faster than ever before. I am looking forward to assuming the responsibility of this new role and helping production printing reach all of the next year’s targets.”
