Qld printer relies on the power of positive thinking to grow 25%

The Gold Coast firm hasn’t scored any major wins, but has gained a steady stream of small business clients in insurance, accommodation and other fields, said director Harry Brelsford.

“The Gold Coast is probably the small business capital of the country, so when there’s growth in small business they come out and get printing done,” he told ProPrint.

Brelsford said the seven-staff outfit had also made a point of blocking out the negativity by selling and marketing itself enthusiastically.

“I haven’t switched on the TV or opened up the newspaper [this year],” he said.

Varsity has been turning over $70,000 to $80,000 per month in 2012, said Brelsford.

The company has grown every year since being founded in 2004, except for the difficult years of 2009 and 2010, he said.

Varsity is an all-digital house, although it also offers offset printing through partners like CMYKhub, said Brelsford.
