Sydney printer produces reusable floor graphics for clients

G-Floor Graphic is a 1.9mm thick PVC product that comes as a plain substrate and can be printed using UV-curable inkjet and screen machines.

Craftech owner Des Mason said G-Floor suited clients that didn't want to glue their graphics to the floor.

"It works on the weight and robustness of the substrate to sit in place," he told ProPrint.

"Some clients don't like you putting self-adhesive on their floors for concerns of leaving residue when the graphics have to be removed.

"It also gives them the ability to move them if they want to. For example, there was a job recently done for one of the eyewear companies in Victoria, and it allowed the retailer to move the floor graphic to suit the exposure that they wanted for the brand name."

Mason said clients appreciated being able to have more control over their branding.

"It was good to be able to liaise with the retailer and have the flexibility of moving the floor graphic around within the store to find a suitable position, whereas if it was a self-adhesive product, once you'd stuck it down, there's no turning back."

The Sydney wide-format firm has been using G-Floor since February and prints on it with Océ Arizona flatbeds.

"We've found that it has printed quite well and does seem to have durable adhesion to the substrate," said Mason.

"The substrate has a rather durable appeal as well. It's a floor graphic and also a floor mat, because it's quite thick compared to other floor graphic substrates and it comes in a few different finishes."

Melbourne printer Stick On Signs has the Australian agency for G-Floor, which Spicers has been distributing since November.

The paper merchant said it was ideal for "applications that require the most extreme durability for heavy foot and even vehicle traffic".

"G-Floor Graphic’s superior clear product protects the printed image with the full material thickness without using lamination," said Spicers.

"There is no other floor graphic media that is more cost-effective and long-lasting."
