All PICA entries open

Entries for the state based Printing Industries Craftmanship Awards (PICA) are now open, with the ceremonies to be held in October and November.

Andrew Macaulay, CEO, PIAA says, “We have received positive feedback from industry and sponsors about hosting these awards across all states this year, members appear to genuinely want to acknowledge, celebrate and promote the capability within the printing industry in Australia. As our tools and technologies continue to advance, so too does the quality that we produce, and it deserves to be shared.”

The PIAA says achieving a medal at the PICA reflects that the entry is at the top echelon of performance within the state. These award-winning entries will then automatically gain entry to compete at the 2018 National Print Awards for judging on the national stage. The only avenue to entering the national awards is by winning a medal at the PICA.

Jen Baile, chief judge has been assembling the panel of judges with a view from the state awards through to the 2018 National Print Awards.

Baile says, “We will ensure consistency in judging by involving representatives from the national panel at each state event. I am thrilled to announce that James Taylor from Taylor’d Press in Melbourne is the newest member to join our judging team.”

Taylor says, “Taylor’d Press have been proud winners of National Print Awards medals in the past, and I know the leverage these can provide a small business in a competitive market. I am excited to move on from being an entrant to a judge for the state PICA. For me, it is about giving back to something that has given me so much pleasure in the past”.

The PIAA says reminds the market that printers, designers, suppliers and clients must come out to support the PICA; there is no other way for players to enter the National Print Awards.
