The 2014 Queensland Printing Industry Craftsmanship Awards saw double the number of companies battling for 23 gold medals and the Judges Choice award for best overall print job.
Brisbane outfit Platypus Graphics won the day, taking home four gold medals and both the Judges Commendation (second place) and Judges Choice award. Greenridge print machining apprentice Paul Talbot also won the QLD LIA Apprentice of the Year award.
Toowoomba printer Greenridge Press won five golds including two for best regional small business. Double golds went to Cornerstone Press and Heaneys Performers in Print. Avon Graphics also got in on the winning, doing finishing work for four gold winners.
Some 300 guests attended the state-level awards at Brisbane’s Victoria Park Golf Club, with the winners taking the accolades of their peers and industry figures over a sumptuous meal. Entertainment was provided by former Australian test cricketer Greg Ritchie.
