Amcor launches new white cap

Because of the sensitive nature of baby food, one of the main market segments for the 51mm Press-On Twist-Off closure, Amcor White Cap has conducted extensive tests utilising the compound over an 18 month period. Amcor claims large scale customer trials, designed to assess packaging related key performance criteria, such as seal integrity under different retort, handling and stacking conditions have proved successful.

Opening torques were also assessed over 12 months and the new closure’s performance in both sterilisation and pasteurisation was compatible with the two closures previously used for these process conditions.

The customer benefits of the new 51mm universal compound Press-On Twist-Off (PT) cap are considerable. There is now one closure for all three heat treatment processes: sterilisation, pasteurisation and hot-fill. More efficient storekeeping is possible at the customer’s plant, by virtue of using only one cap, the 51PTU; mixing of closures during production can be avoided. Most importantly, more efficient production is possible because a new single closure obviates the need for cap changeovers.
