The new printing and bindery positions will be created as its expands capacity at its national sheetfed operation in Warwick.
The company is shipping over a perfect binder, a stitcher and a Manroland press from New Zealand, which were previously in use at the now defunct Manukau site.
The 25 new positions include a number of staff brought over from New Zealand, while APN is also advertising for more printers and finishers.
Commercial printing manager Allan Ruhle described the expansion as an “exciting” time.
“We will be increasing our site by an extra 3,000sqm. It is certainly a big undertaking, but we expect to be fully functional by the end of September,” he said.
“The expansion has come from the requirements of our clients, so we can offer them extra inserting, binding and mailing capabilities.”
Currently half of Warwick’s work comes from APN publications, while the rest is commercial work for external clients, such as a carbon-neutral magazine for coffee chain Zarraffa’s.
APN Warwick moved into its Kenilworth Street site in January 2010 and installed a 10-colour Heidelberg Speedmaster 102 perfector.
APN Print Warwick is a wholly owned subsidiary of APN News and Media, which last month announced it was closing web offset facilties in Bundaberg and Mackay and merging them into its Yandina plant, with 25 redundancies.
