Trade outfit Avon Graphics is ramping up production with three Mimaki wide format printers to boost print quality and facilitate growth. A successful four-month trial of a JV300-160 roll fed eco-solvent printer led to the Sydney and Melbourne based business taking on two JFX500-2131 LED UV flatbed printers. Tate Hone, Avon sales manager, says his clients were so happy with the results of the trial that keeping the machine was the only option. He says, “The variable ink droplet size meant that we could offer the best quality while still maintaining the speed needed to meet market demand.

“With speed to market being a big contributor in large format, this machine helps ensure we can meet the tightest of deadlines while keeping the quality we need. “The machines continue to impress our clients and increased their level of trust in quality of our work.” Mimaki national sales and marketing manager Brad Creighton says Avon’s installations are a testament that Mimaki has got the balance of price, production, speed and quality right with the major benefits of LED UV curing. Hone says the LED cold cure system allows Avon to run stocks like polypropylene without having to worry about heat curl, which had been an issue in the past. He says, “The taint or smell of the inks with conventional UV has sometimes dictated that in store prints had to be laminated, but the LED cured Mimaki inks have no odour.” Hone says Avon gets good support from Mimaki and the Installation, training and ongoing service were dealt with seamlessly. He says, “We see our trade large format service growing into the future and feel that the Mimaki products can help take us there.” Avon offers foil stamping, embossing, laser cutting, form cutting, laminating, flexo UV, screen UV and texturing to add visual and tactical features to print.
