The annual Snap Awards were held across the country in August, starting in Perth, then Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne, where the best South Australian franchises were also celebrated.

Snap Wollongong was one of the best performers in the 150-strong network of centres, growing revenues by 10.5% to reach $1.4 million.
Wollongong owner Barry Christofides put the stellar performance down to his industry experience. “There are only four of us but I have been around a while – if I couldn’t get it right by now, I’d be in all sorts of trouble.”
Snap O’Connell St, part of the CBD Print Group, was also awarded after witnessing sales growth of 14.7% over the year.
Snap Franchising chief executive Stephen Edwards said the whole group could learn from the 2012 winners.
“Listen to the owners who win things because we need to learn why they win in tough times,” he told the audience at the Sydney ceremony, where ProPrint was a special guest.
Edwards also used the awards road show to detail his agenda to strengthen the bonds among the network. “We are in the trenches together.”
He called for return to the company culture seen under Snap’s first chief executive Paddy Thompson, who led Perth company Imperial Printing to become the franchising powerhouse it is today.
Alan Drew, the owner of three Snap centres in Western Australia, gave the thumbs up to Edwards’ strategy during an emotional speech.
“While we all have to focus on our own businesses – otherwise we wouldn’t be in business – there also has to be a sense of community. I would like to thank Stephen for bringing back that sense of community,” said Drew, who was inducted into the Snap Hall of Fame with wife Ruth.
