Overlooking the Brisbane city Botanic Gardens at the Royal on the Park Hotel, Print Day Out will take place at 10am on Friday. Mel Ireland, PIAA Queensland member services manager, says the free event will be ideal for networking with people from across the whole spectrum of the industry. Ireland says, “Print Day Out is an event which lets printers, their customers, students and suppliers network and see the best of print in Queensland. “There will be a 3D printer and screen printer on display as well as interactive letterpress demonstrations showcasing the latest innovations in offset and web press technologies as well as free tea and coffee.” She says visitors will also have the chance to see the QLD PICA entries before the awards later that evening, also held at the same hotel. The PICA 2015 presentation dinner will provide the opportunity to see some of the best design and print in Queensland, PIAA says. The evening will also celebrate the apprentices with the biennial GAMAA – LIA National Graduate Scholarship Prize and the LIA Printing Industries Future Leaders Award. This year the awards will again incorporate the Environmental Management Award and the Progressive Trophy. For more information on both events visits the association’s website.
