Platypus Graphics, Inprint Brisbane and Cornerstone Press cleaned up at the Queensland PICAs while a former Geon business was the big winner in Tasmania.
Perennial powerhouse Platypus took home nine gold medals after winning 12 golds at the 2012 PICAs and following up with another three at this year's National Print Awards.
IPMG firm Inprint Brisbane and Cornerstone Press each bettered last year's hauls. Inprint improved from three to seven gold medals, while Cornerstone went from four to five.
Platypus, Inprint and Cornerstone are all Brisbane-based.
Queensland's other multiple winners were Heaneys Performers in Print, which claimed three golds, and Multi-Color Queensland and Sunprint, which each won two.

Nine other firms each took out a single category: Bayfield Printing, Greenridge Press, Impressworks, Jammin' Handprints, Kuhn Corp Press & Packaging, Mr Labels, PMP, Printcraft and Print Approach.
Meanwhile, the old Geon Tasmania, which is now known as Mercury Walch, followed on from Geon's seven-gold haul at the 2012 Tasmanian PICAs with seven of its own in 2013. The Hobart firm was renamed in March after being acquired by the Todisco family.
Fellow Hobart firm Focal Printing claimed six gold medals, Launceston printer Flying Colours won three, Hobart design studio Futago won three and Hobart operation Abel Labels won two.
Ten print and design firms each had single wins: Cathy McAuliffe, Clemenger, Examiner Print Centre, Karen Kluss Design, Liminal Graphics, Monotone Art Printers, Pure Bride Tasmania, Rebecca Birrell, Red Jelly and Walker Design.
