Blue Star recruits new head of print

Matthew Bates, head of sales at Blue Star confirmed the appointment and told Australian Printer that Dobrovolsky – who was recruited from the US – has extensive experience throughout Europe and Asia in both digital and offset print.

Dobrovolsky will report to Chris Mitchell, group managing director of Blue Star and in the first stage of his appointment his will duties will only incorporate Blue Star’s Australia’s operations.

Commenting on the appointment Matthew Bates says, “Following Sasha’s start here it will be business as usual though it’s expected that he will bring some good knowledge and project ideas to the (Blue Star) Group. I think we will benefit greatly from this appointment.”

While Bates declined to comment further, Australian Printer understands the appointment of Dobrovolsky is part of a wider management reshuffle, which will see a number of Blue Star heads leave the Group.

When asked if Sasha Dobrovolsky’s appointment would be replacing a current management position, Bates replied, “Both yes and no.”

Industry reports outline that the reshuffle is part of a strategy to combat the effects of the economic slowdown.
