Brisbane college brings work in-house with Oce managed print deal

Under the agreement, Océ has taken control of the school’s print room, which contains a VarioPrint 2100 and a newly installed CS665.

St Laurence’s business manager, Paul Rigall, said the school, which employs 110 teachers, is now able to produce 90% of its printing requirements in-house.

“We are now printing a much greater proportion of our requirements in-house, a vast improvement over the past when the print room and even the teachers would seek outside suppliers for jobs,” he said.

Rigall said the new digital printing equipment had allowed the print room to add calendars, business cards and prospectuses to its repertoire.

“We are extending our printing services outside the school to produce additional income streams,” he said.

Print room supervisor Nigel Eden is one of two Océ staff members working full time at the school.

He said the recent installation of the CS665 colour machine and a Fordiograph electric guillotine were part of a commercial push.

“We haven’t started producing work for other schools yet, but that is definitely part of the plan,” he said.
