Based on Canon’s latest-generation iR controller architecture, the company says the new systems offer a host of advanced features ranging from increased job processing speeds and enhanced security to new communication and integration capabilities.
Steven Brown, market segment manager, Production and Graphic Arts, for Canon Australia says, “The introduction of these new MEAP enabled imageRUNNER models and the M3 rip further strengthens our position in the production and graphic arts space. These new devices all reflect an evolution of the production level imageRUNNER into a secure communications hub capable of meeting unique workflow requirements. Entirely new services are now available for users, such as Searchable PDF (OCR), 128 bit encryption of PDF’s and web pull print, which allows you to browse the web and pull web pages directly from the printer user interface.”
According to Canon the new imageRUNNER iR105+/9070/8070 and imagePASS-M3 Print Controller (rip) offer advanced document management and communication features with secure, high-speed, high precision, multi-function processing of image data, making them ideal for use in the quick-print and publishing markets, as well as large organisations with in-plant facilities.
An example of enhanced security options on the devices from previous models comes in the form of an optional security kit, explained Brown, which removes all trace of any job from the device’s hard disk, making the future recall of such documents by malicious users impossible.
Featuring Canon’s latest Image Platform architecture, each model supports increased job processing speeds, upgraded network connectivity support and true concurrent job processing across all functions – printing, scanning copying and sending. The imageRUNNER iR8070 is an 80ppm multifunction device (MFD) designed to drive exceptional multifunction performance in large departments, while the imageRUNNER 9070 and iR105+, running at 90ppm and 105ppm respectively, are designed for production printing with increased output speeds and high duty cycles.
With the new imageRUNNER models, users have a number of print controller options; including the new Canon imagePASS-M3 Print Controller (rip). Featuring its own hardware dedicated for printing various applications, the imagePASS-M3 is designed to the handle long-run and high volume needs of customers printing true Adobe PostScript files, complex graphics and variable-data output. The imagePASS-M3 controller adds support for hot folders (network directories that ticket and process jobs automatically), document imposition and visual representation of mixed media.
