Lindsay Hannan, general manager of Craft Printing, has just announced that its 16 year old Komori Lithrone L440 press has reached a remarkable 516 million impressions and is still printing the same quality as the day it was installed.

“In the 16 years it has never had a major problem, never required a major overhaul, and has never had a bearing, gear or gripper replaced” he says. “It has the lowest maintenance costs of any of our five sheetfed presses – last month’s bill for the Komori was just $1,800, which is typical for the press”.

The four-colour 40 inch Komori Lithrone is regarded as the workhorse at Craft Printing, and still operates 24 hours a day six days a week, at 11,000 impressions per hour.

Craft Printing is part of IPMG, and is located in Alexandria, Sydney.

CPI NSW Machinery manager David Gunn, was manager when the press was originally installed, and says the outstanding performance over the years since then pays tribute to the strength of Komori’s engineering and design. The impression count could well be an Australian record, he says.
