Crease the best

Prior to installing the Marchetti, Plan & Print had been outsourcing all of its creasing work, meaning that extra time had to be allocated and extra costs would be incurred. Occasionally, the cost would make some smaller jobs prohibitive, according to Plan & Print’s finishing team leader Caroline Lane.

“Where the new machine has really helped is with things like invitation cards, when people want a run of 50 or so, and they want them quickly. With the short run work, creasing had always been a curse, until now.”

The turnaround time on creasing smaller runs has been shortened considerably with the new installation. The machine is easy to operate, minimises cracking and can do laminated work. Caroline says she has used it on stock up to 300 gsm.

“The customers have been very happy with the work we’ve produced on it, and the quick turnaround times,” Caroline says.

Plan and Print’s customers are the key to the company’s operation, says owner Maurice Hawkins.

“Our customers say we are easy to deal with, we’re knowledgeable and listen to what the customer says. Every week, we get a note or an email or box of chocolates from somebody to say thank you for what we’ve done.

“People buy off people they like, know and trust.”

Maurice says that the company has a culture of total commitment to its customers, and to producing quality work.

TS Wilsons has a similar culture of commitment. The company doesn’t just supply creasers, but has a range that includes guillotines, booklet makers and folding machines.

Plan and Print is a major supplier of digital and offset printing services specialising in shorter to medium run work with both digital and sheetfed facilities. The company’s equipment includes a two-colour Heidelberg GTO press, a four colour Heidelberg Direct Imaging press and a Fuji Xerox DocuColor 6060 and two DocuTechs amongst other printing machines.

Plan and Print’s services include in house imaging and finishing services and Maurice is clearly passionate about delivering the best possible quality to its customers.

As he says: “If it matters, put it on paper!”
