Synapse NewsManager is the next step in the evolution of Creo’s current newspaper workflow management systems: Prinergy and Prinergy Newsrun.

The Synapse NewsManager workflow will provide newspaper printers with increased automation and extend Creo’s open solutions to bigger, multi-site printing operations. It will enable operators with a single site or multiple remote print sites to efficiently manage and track digital files from edition plan to plate production.

With a PDF workflow, the newspaper printer can use a standard internal file format that is optimized for efficient production, yet retains flexibility to allow for late changes and provides for high-quality, resolution-independent printing on different proofing devices and print technologies.

“Synapse NewsManager is part of the powerful Synapse family of automation and efficiency tools,” explains Chris Bender, newspaper workflow product manager. “Creo is developing this workflow to improve process control and quality production, and reduce operating costs for newspaper prepress departments of all sizes.”

The Synapse NewsManager workflow will incorporate software components that Creo acquired from HiT Internet Technologies, Italy, a leading developer of technology for the publishing industry.

Synapse NewsManager is part of the complete Creo newspaper solution that includes the Trendsetter NEWS computer-to-plate thermal imaging system and Staccato screening. More than 200 newspaper printers around the world have already installed Creo newspaper systems.

Creo will demonstrate the Synapse NewsManager workflow at drupa 2004 at stands 10 & 11, Hall 4.
