Daco upgrades die cutter for LabelExpo

The company says that it will now supply the machine as standard with an air mandrel for the unwind, and with web clamps for the splicing table to make roll changes quicker and easier. It adds that it has developed its own DBS back-scoring system for the removal of the edge trim, which enables it to place the back scoring after the splice table, enabling splices that could potentially snap the waste matrix to be avoided. It has also refined the nip roller assembly, enabling operators to reduce machine setup times further and gives improved performance.

The Daco DTD utilises a pneumatic unwind brake for unwind tension, which Daco describes as infinitely variable, delivering a better performance than a friction brake pad system. The construction of the die station uses 16mm steel precision ground die plates and a hardened tool steel anvil from RotoMetrics. The rewind uses a pneumatic rewind clutch, enabling the use of rewind mandrels from 25 to 76mm. Daco says this system allows soft rolls to be produced at full production speeds, even on small diameter mandrels.

At LabelExpo, the Daco DTD250 will run jobs using a 25mm mandrel.
