The launch of its new ProFire Excel Imaging, together with its new ProFire Digital Media provided the heart of the drupa hype for the company. The technology enables DI presses to operate faster, with less waste and a lower cost of market entry.

An entry-level system provides the high quality of the ProFire Excel together with a set of features to satisfy print providers with lower production requirements. A higher performance system comes fully automated and, the company claims, raises the bar on quality and automation. This press is currently available from Ryobi, KBA and KPG.

The launch of Presstek‚s new ProFire Digital Media was a significant step for the company at drupa. The new media is optimmised for use with presses using the ProFire Excel imaging technology, and together they provide a 16 micron laser spot at 2540dpi, while supporting FM, AM and hybrid screening.
