DIC appoints Brown to Vic

Brown has spent
the last 22 years in the printing ink industry and has recently returned from
the UK where he held the position of European general manager
for the Liquid Ink Solvent based division for Flint Ink. Prior to this European secondment, Andrew was
the Australian general manager for Flint Ink Australia.

David Rands, managing director of DIC says, "This is
an exciting time for DIC Australia. Over
recent years, we have seen strong growth for DIC in the Australian and New Zealand markets, and our challenge is to continue
building quality business operations that service our customers."

Brown noticed
significant changes in the Australian graphic arts industry during the two
years that he was based in Europe
and commented, "Consolidation of our customer base in the Australian market has
increased at an enormous rate." Brown also
commented on the similarities of external competitive pressures facing the
Australian and Western European markets, "The Asian import threats facing our
businesses are very similar to the Eastern European threat that faces the
traditional Western European market. We need to be innovative in adding value
to our customer base to not only protect our existing business, but to develop
it further. The industry at all levels needs to sell the benefits of
world class quality and quick response as these are large barriers to
imports."

As a market leader
in Australia and New Zealand with premium quality products, DIC is
looking to continually develop its business to enable quick response to market
demands. DIC says Brown's appointment is
another sign of its on-going commitment to the market.
