Vic print shop Energi Print going into administration

Energi Print employed a staff of 60 at its Murrumbeena facility and had an annual turnover of $27m. Accounting firm BDO Kendalls has taken over the administration of the company, but was unavailable for comment at the time of publishing.

At this year’s National Print Awards, Energi Print took out gold in the security printing category for a set of stamps entitled “Anzac – Beersheba – Israel”.

Energi Print was founded in 1997 and according to its website – which is no longer in use – the company used environmentally friendly techniques including UV and waterless printing and was awarded the coveted ISO 12647-2 Proficient Printer from Mellow Colour in the UK via its Print Spec programme.

According to an AP industry source, Energi went into administration on Friday and it’s likely it would soon go into a receivership.

Last year Energi print had big plans with the company buying NSW’s Central Coast Printing, with Energi’s managing director Haydn Brehanv claiming big players such as Blue Star and Geon had shown the way to grow.
