The event will coincide with the Art & Framing Trade Fair, which will be held in the neighbouring Hordern Pavilion, and is expected to attract around 2000 visitors across the three days.
McCourt says, “Since attending the ‘Big Picture’ show in Palm Springs USA in 2000, I have had a dream. It was there I first learnt about the emerging market for digital art and photographic reproductions. Since then, artists, photographers, galleries and service bureaus have established one of the fastest growth sectors of the graphic arts.
“Original artwork, computer-generated images, digital art photographs and scanned traditional photography can now be reproduced in limited editions, using archival inks and media, and sold to a highly receptive collector and interior design market.
“My goal is to bring this know-how to Australia and to establish an event that would quench the thirst for ‘how to’ information amongst our creatives.”
Event organisers are pitching the concept to such potential participants as suppliers of large format printers; suppliers of art and photo papers and canvas; digital camera vendors; computer vendors; colour management specialists; photo labs; software, scanner and other periphery device vendors; and website developers. Galleries catering for digital art; digital art bureaus; and colleges and training establishments are also encouraged to consider displaying at the show.
