The Mecca for print is universally recognised as drupa, the once every four years monster trade show that has historically and continues to set the agenda for the global print industry, and in less than 12 months time drupa will once again open its doors.
Last time around printers from around the world were knocked out to see the new concept of high speed, high volume, webfed inkjet digital printing systems, with those mostly concept systems now in series production, and which are now starting to be implemented in Australia.
The time before that in 2004 JDF made its entrance, the 2000 show made it crystal clear that computers were to be at the centre of print, although the dotcom hype evident everywhere then was a decade too early, and in 1995 CTP was launched onto the global market within the vaunted halls on the side of the Rhine.
And these are just the highlights, drupa has dozens and dozens of stories waiting to be told to those who visit, opportunities to be uncovered, and knowledge to be shared with both suppliers and printers from around the world.
As part of the preparation – for the biggest event in print – next month sees the global drupa Roadshow come to Australia, offering printers an insight into current trends and developments in both business and technology.
Speakers are drawn from both developers and printers, and will be looking at subjects including offset opportunities, digital opportunities and reformatting your business to exploit those opportunities.
Brian Moore, publisher of Australian Printer says, “Knowledge is power, and print business owners and managers attending this exclusive event will certainly gain in knowledge, from both Australia and overseas.”
Held in partnership with the country’s biggest and best read print magazine, Australian Printer, the drupa Roadshow will provide real insight in four short presentations, and will offer the biggest prize ever given in the Australian print industry – free airline tickets and three nights hotel accommodation to the show.
The prize will be drawn on the night, meaning one lucky printer in both Sydney and Melbourne will go home with their drupa travel already organised.
Both Roadshows will have several print leaders pointing to current trends and opportunities in eight minute sections, topics include:
- Offset opportunities
- Digital integration and opportunities
- Workflow automation benefits
- Remodelling for growth, case study
- drupa – what you will see
The Roadshow will kick off in Sydney on July 12 at the Stamford Hotel Ryde from 4pm and will take place in Melbourne on July 13 at Station Pier, Port Melbourne at 4pm.
