Due for launch in late September, EFI Colorproof XF consists of several different components that can be joined together in different combinations to create basic or extended configurations. This offers complete flexibility to the end-user, allowing the customer to personalise each solution to suit their own proofing requirements, and add more functionality as needs expand. It can also be used in conjunction with EFI OneFlow 2.0 prepress workflow software to create a complete solution within a print shop or production facility.
For individual users, the Client Option solution provides the user interface and administrator panel to the server. It is available for Windows and Macintosh workstations, offering a complete platform-independent and fully customisable solution.
Russell Cavenagh, DES Colour Solutions sales director, says, “There are many proofing solutions out there, but not many of them have the power of EFI behind them. What EFI has done here is that it has rebuilt the product from the ground up, which has enabled the company to add much more functionality to it, hence the XF – extended flexibility or extended functionality.
“It is a product that is very easy to use and very easy to set up. It will put proofing into the mainstream a lot more. The old proofing systems may have been an inkjet printer in the corner with a computer, which people would print to and walk over and watch it progress along in the queue. This brings proofing back to the desktop, and only requires one person to act as an administrator.”
In addition to the basic modules, the customer can choose from a variety of different product and output options that can be added on as required, such as Color Manager, Color Verifier, Dot Creator, OneBit Option; and Spot Color Option. These functionalities are accessed by a key code as opposed to a separate installation should the customer choose to add these modules later. EFI Photo and EFI Production options as well as the EFI Ink Zone Option, an automated ink key presetting application, will follow later this year.
