Epson placed on CDP A List for tackling climate change

Epson has been placed for the first time on the prestigious corporate sustainability A list by global environmental non-profit CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) for leadership in tackling climate change and protecting water security.

“This is a significant and important certification for Epson. Reporting into CDP helps us to find new opportunities for climate and environmental actions that our investors and customers worldwide are demanding. The CDP listing positions Epson as one of a small number of companies that achieved a double A, out of more than 5,800 businesses assessed in 2020. This prestigious listing sends a strong message to our customers looking for environmentally conscious products and services, and to our business partners and stakeholders,” said Henning Ohlsson, director of CSR, Epson Europe.

CDP is a not-for-profit charity that runs the global disclosure system for investors, companies, cities, states and regions to help them manage and understand their environmental impacts. The world’s economy looks to CDP as the gold standard of environmental reporting as it operates the most comprehensive dataset on corporate and city action. A detailed and independent methodology is used by CDP to assess companies, allocating a score of A to D- based on the comprehensiveness of disclosure, awareness and management of environmental risks and demonstration of best practices associated with environmental leadership, such as setting ambitious and meaningful targets. Epson fully understands the importance of the environmental actions and decision-making transparency demanded by CDP and is making continuous efforts to decrease its environmental impact in line with its long-term policy.

Epson confirms that it is striving to achieve its Environmental Vision 2050. It is leveraging its efficient, compact and precision technologies as it takes aggressive measures to reduce the environmental impact of its products and business operations throughout its value chain. In October 2019, the company indicated approval of the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and believes its A list recognition is a result of closely following the CDP requirements for TCFD disclosures.
