Fespa adds interior decorating exhibit

Fespa will show off print’s interior decoration capabilities at Fespa in Cologne this year, alongside its digital, textile and screen printing exhibits.

Printeriors will debut at the wide format trade show in Germany slated for May, aiming to highlight the creative possibilities when using print to realise interior design concepts for retail, residential, corporate and hospitality settings.

Fespa divisional director Roz McGuinness says print is making substantial inroads in the realms of architectural design and interior décor, from walls, floor coverings, textiles and decorative surfaces to furniture and accessories.

“With Printeriors, we aim to illustrate print’s creative potential to interior designers, architects, and other specifiers of interior décor,” he says.

“Printeriors will set out to inform, educate and inspire the design community, increasing awareness of print’s capabilities and stimulating demand for printed interior decoration.”

McGuinness says Printeriors will offer visitors a visual and tactile experience with a series of room sets dressed by print vendors and their customers to represent different commercial and domestic interior environments, with an emphasis on creativity rather than technology.

Thursday May 21 will also offer a focused one-day conference covering interior applications, materials, designs, techniques, trends and case studies. The sessions will be led by European designers who are actively using print to bring their ideas to life.

Fespa’s core audience of printers and signmakers are also invited to explore interior décor applications as an avenue for diversification.

“The opportunity to hear directly from designers will also help PSPs to understand these customers’ creative and commercial drivers and adapt their services accordingly,” McGuinness says.

“And with Fespa 2015, Fespa Fabric, European Sign Expo and Printeriors all under one roof at Koelnmesse, it is then easy for visitors to return to the main exhibition floor to seek out the enabling technologies, inks and substrates.”
