The award ceremony was attended by manufactures from all industries that arrived from across Australia for the presentation. David Fuller, Focus Press managing director, says that it is an honour and a humbling experience knowing Focus Press is recognised by leading manufactures as an industry leader in environmental practices and cleaner production.

“We were very proud to be considered as a finalist in the environmental section but to win the national award with so many worthy contenders was an amazing achievement for the team at Focus Press and the printing industry as a whole,” Fuller says.

Cleaner production has been a priority at Focus Press for many years. The company has invested heavily in environmentally friendly equipment and undertaken extensive research into ecologically responsible procedures and practices which could be implemented by the printing industry.

“We have managed to improve our quality and productivity while lowering our impact on the environment. We have lowered our water consumption by over 50 per cent, reduced power consumption, practically eliminated waste to landfill and recycle 90 per cent of everything we use in the printing process. In short, we are saving the environment and producing more with less,” Fuller says.

Manufactures’ Monthly presents a number of awards each year that are dedicated to excellence in all areas of manufacture. Its peak award is presented to the company considered to be the Australian Manufacture of the Year. Focus Press was a finalist in this award category.
