The company’s will be integrated at Focus Press’ recently expanded Strathfield facility and will include a guillotine system and a half press as part of the acquisition.

David Fuller, CEO of Focus Press says the two companies had done business in the past and Focus Press was in acquisition mode when the opportunity arose.

“We have picked up some skilled staff, and a good customer base, Fast Proof Press has a similar business culture to us so it was a good opportunity for our company. We are keen to do more acquisitions and will be on the lookout for further growth opportunities.”

For Fast Proof Press’ Gold Coast plant it will be business as usual, with the company saying the sale will enable it to consolidate and concentrate its efforts on growing it business from its home town.

According to Matthew Whitton, managing director of Fast Proof Press, the acquisition comes at a time when many acquisitions and mergers are taking place throughout Australia, which is ultimately beneficial for the industry.

Whitton says, “Mergers and acquisitions allow for more business opportunities. I would recommend anyone considering one to just do it, no matter how daunting the task may be.”

According to Fast Proof Press, the selling of the Sydney plant was due to the family-owned business being based on the Gold Coast.

Whitton says “Quite simply, it became challenging to share our energies between the two fully operational print shops, 80 plus staff and three young families. So we decided to accept Focus Press’ acquisition offer.” He adds, “We feel confident this is the right thing to do for our company, our clients and also for Focus Press.”

At least half of the employees of Fast Proof Press’ Silverwater plant have been retained by Focus Press to maintain continuity.
