Fuji Xerox launches automated universal workflow

Fuji Xerox has released the next generation of its workflow software, FreeFlow Core, that it says promises to combine ease of use with complete automation of the ordering and printing process.

Fuji Xerox Australia software marketing manager Peter Brittliff says the software aims to be simple, streamlined and seamless, differentiating itself by being easy for anyone to install and use, and is suitable for ‘mum and dad corner shops right the way up to the Blue Star level’.

He says, “Unlike many other workflow systems, FreeFlow Core plays well in that it can be implemented into any system and work with existing software rather than only ours.

“In today’s market, there are two simple forces at play – reducing costs and growing revenue. With run lengths and turnarounds shorter than ever, print service providers have to find ways to change from producing a smaller number of large jobs per day to a large number of small, diverse jobs per day. They are seeking tools and techniques that enable them to reduce overall costs while producing more jobs with less – to increase revenue and profit.

“Business growth, rather than production hiccups, is the primary concern of print professionals.”

The browser-based software uses an XMPie web-to-print ordering system, with jobs moved through the prepress and printing processes using a drag and drop interface, or by total automation.

FreeFlow is fully customisable and offers a range of automation levels and at its fullest level can operate from the client’s order to when the finished product rolls off the press ready for dispatch, without any human intervention – especially useful for repeat orders and regular clients that do not need an approvals process.

It is able to detect and fix any file problems throughout the printing process, can organise similar jobs for optimal postpress processing, and works to maximise the efficiency of the business’ print equipment.

It also uses Adobe software components and uses international production standards favoured by print professionals, such as JDF/JMF, along with common processes like hot folders for accepting jobs.
