Fuji Xerox launches Color 800/1000

The new presses, which were first revealed to the media in April, sit between the vendor’s DocuColor 8002 and high-end iGen4 machines, both in capabilities and price point. The presses also feature the use of a clear dry ink which can be used for spot and flood effects.

Henryk Kraszewski (pictured), production colour marketing manager at Fuji Xerox Australia, said at the launch that 174 patents were issued in the development of the machines.

Fuji Xerox unveiled the presses at an event in Sydney last night, which detailed the history of its product development through “the history of rock”.

Simon Lane, national manager of production services business at Fuji Xerox Australia, traced the birth of ‘xerography’ back to the days of Benny Goodman, and detailed the rise of digital technology through the back end of the 20th century.

Lane also pointed to Heidelberg’s recent return to digital as proof that the technology is the wave of the future.

“Offset and digital help one another,” he said.

The company continued the ‘rock’ theme by giving ‘gold records’ to early adopters of the presses, including Dashing Print, Scott Print, Docs on Call, Print Bound, Snap Printing Clarence St, Classic Colour Copy, Graphic Source, and AdColour.

The new presses print at 2,400dpi on substrates from 55-350gsm, in sizes from 102x152mm to 330x488mm. The Color 800 Press prints 80 pages per minute and the 1000 model prints 100ppm.
