Fujifilm launches flexible Acuity Advance Select

Steve Collyer, national product manager, Fujifilm Australia told Australian Printer, “The main attraction of the Acuity Advance Select is its ability to handle a wide range of print applications. It can be utilised as a dedicated vacuum flatbed which makes it suitable for double-sided and rigid printing, and a roll-to-roll machine which means it can handle printing on rolls up to 1.9m wide.

“The addition of white and clear ink in recent Acuity models also broadens its appeal. Furthermore, the Select offers increased flexibility with a wider selection of colour options that can provide high productivity and value-added versatility.”

He says, “The Acuity Advance Select has eight channels offering extended colour, white and clear in options. The addition of white and clear ink channels allows print service providers to pint on a range of non-white substrates and add spot or flood coat varnish effect in a single operation.”

Collyer says, “Fujifilm uses an OEM strategy in wide format and its partners include Inca, Océ and Mimaki. However, we provide added value by incorporating our own technology, including some or all of software, ink and curing systems and printheads, depending on the device.”

The new Acuity Advance Select builds on the Acuity Advance platform, with the same print quality, and also adds a number of new features allowing the inkjet printer to be used on a much wider range of applications.

The Acuity Advance Select can be used with two white ink channels to improve the density of white in a single pass.

It can print up to speeds of 32.8sqm per hour and like all of the Acuity Advance models, the Select has an optional roll med kit for printing onto any number of flexible materials.

It also features additional vacuum zone to reduce manual masking, with new job handling capabilities for more complex jobs.

Collyer says, “We offer to the market what we feel are products built with innovative design. That allows us to choose the right machine for the right market and to focus on what is most important to us – our customers.”

He says, “Along with Fujifilm technology in the box, our digital inks and media, the national service and support that Fujifilm delivers, is what makes the difference.”

Collyer says, “The Acuity platform is relevant to a wide section of the inkjet market; for many mid-size printing businesses, the versatility of the Fujifilm Acuity platform means it can be a single piece of hardware to fill most, if not all, of their print production. Again, this versatility is also attractive to the largest of print shops as their high-end equipment may only be suited to a particular type of printing. For example, a large format printer designed to print on flexible materials may not be capable of direct printing onto rigid substrates the way an Acuity would allow them to.”

“In addition, the Acuity Advance Select would be suitable as an entry point for commercial and screen printers into the wide format market providing the opportunity to fill revenue gaps that have or may arise in the near future due to the evolving printing industry.” Collyer concludes.
