GJS to host niche printing courses

Industry supplier GJS is set to hold printing courses in screen printing, heat transfer solutions and graphics software, aiming to help the industry upskill in digital applications.

The one-day courses will be held in the new GJS training room in Revesby NSW, which has the latest technology to assist in training people in all different aspect of screen printing, plastisol heat transfers, dye sublimation transfers, direct-to-garment and thermal textile vinyl solutions.

The programme sees a relaunch of courses the company says proved popular last time round.

The ‘Introduction to Printing’ course is designed to give participants hands-on experience of the many different screen printing and heat transfer solutions available on the market.

Students will create a print-ready screen, from scratch, ready for screen printing, including coating and exposing. They will print on textiles using a four colour carousel, flash-curer and t-shirt dryer; print on a manual hand bench, and apply a plastisol and foil heat transfer to a garment; and explore other processes.

The newly created ‘Introduction to Graphics Software for Printing’ course will provide participants with a foundation in the creation and use of digital software applications, specifically targeted at the print industry.

Training is provided in colour spaces, file formats, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Bridge.

Classes are held for individuals or groups of up to three people to ensure that all students develop a thorough understanding of the process.

Greg Stone, managing director of GJS, says, “Our printing courses have been a popular part of the GJS offering to the industry. With the move to our new showroom and increasing need to assist our customers with digital printing processes, we wanted to ensure the relaunch of our courses would provide those attending with the most relevant and practical skills needed to either set up and operate a successful printing business, or branch out into a new area and open up new market opportunities.”

Michael Davies and Stephen Tuck will instruct the printing courses, they have more than 35 years of experience between them. Davies and Steve Poole will run the graphics software programme.

Stone says, “The small group environment that we have created for our courses really means that you can have direct access to the instructors and maximise your investment and time by attending.

“And because of our commitment to exceptional customer service we offer ongoing support to those who attend our courses to ensure that they continue to develop their skills.”

Those wishing to view the new GJS course timetable or book a place can do so via the new online registration system on the GJS website.
