HP launching Indigo fleet in biggest drupa stand

HP is set to run the biggest stand at this year’s drupa as it launches its new generation of Indigos including the flagship HP Indigo 12000.

The business will showcase a fleet of over 50 presses taking over the whole space of Hall 17 at drupa, which is measured at 6,200sqm.

The new Indigo 12000 will be offered as an upgrade to the HP 10000, featuring One Shot technology providing a wider gamut of substrates, three-channel screening configuration (CMY), Enhanced Productivity Mode (EMP) and an inline spectrophotometer.

Existing HP Indigo 10000 users will be able to upgrade in the field. In Australia HP Indigo is available through Currie Group.

Alongside the new 12000 machine, HP will be displaying the new 7900 Indigo and 5900 Indigo, as well as the Indigo 8000 Digital Press which will target the flexible packaging and labels market.

HP is also eyeing the B1 market, and at drupa will show a 27-tonne Indigo 50000, which is in effect a pair of Indigo 20000 reel-fed engines used for flexible packaging, enhanced to expand their capabilities for commercial print applications

Country manager for Indigo presses in the South Pacific Steve Donegal says the convoy of new machines produce high quality work ‘without sacrificing productivity’.

“Printers need industry-leading digital printing technology to make their creative ideas a reality and reach new levels of profitability,” says Donegal.

“With the new category-defining HP Indigo and PageWide Web Press solutions, PSPs can differentiate themselves with high-quality, one-of-a-kind applications.”

The raft of Indigo models, according to HP, have ‘improved colour accuracy and consistency leveraging automated colour management tools’ and allows users to produce thousands of jobs per day.

In a statement about expanding its commercial printing fleet, HP says, “Customers are able to eliminate up to 50 percent of pre-press work with HP SmartStream Production Pro 6.0 and increase throughput up to 40 percent per shift with the HP Indigo Optimiser, which supports non-stop printing with on-press job sequencing and proofing during production.”

“The enhanced HP SmartStream Production Center simplifies production management, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.”

HP is also introducing its PageWide Web Press T490 HD which is set to bolster output for the digital colour print providers.

“The 42-inch HP PageWide Web Press T490 HD is the industry’s most productive digital colour duplex press, delivering up to 1,000 feet per minute in performance mode, a 67 percent speed increase, and 500 fpm in quality mode,” the statement reads.

“Its monochrome variant, the HP PageWide Web Press T490M HD, offers high-volume trade book manufacturers equivalent offset-class digital monochrome productivity. Additionally, the HP PageWide Web Presses T470 HD and T480 HD now offer 500 fpm in quality mode, a 25 percent increase since introduction.”

The HP machines are set to be available to the market in the late months of 2016.

“The new HP Indigo portfolio will begin shipping in the second half of 2016, and new HP Indigo features are expected to be available as optional field upgrades in 2016. New High Definition Laser Array (HDLA) technology for the HP Indigo 12000 Digital Press will be available in 2017.”

“The new HP PageWide Web Presses will be commercially available in 2016. Current duplex colour HP PageWide Web Press customers can upgrade to the new technology in 2016.”

HP says all of the new presses, including most existing ones, are designed to be compatible with HP’s new cloud-based PrintOS business operating
