IBS Cards is won over by KBA Genius and new changeable blade system

IBS Cards general manager Michael Cuverwell told ProPrint that the Gold Cast-based printer has another Genius system on order to serve as a back-up for its existing press.

“The Genius 52UV press has revolutionised our facility and the quick-change-tray has allowed us to cut times dramatically in terms of refilling our inks,” he said

“All-in-all, with the Genius we have gone from a one-week turnaround to a two-day turnaround.”

The changeable blade system was developed for the waterless and keyless press by the German press maker’s technology subsidiary, KBA-MetroPrint. Instead of removing ink from a blade chamber using a spatula, with the KBA system the blade chamber can be removed from the printing units, saving time in the cleaning process. The chambers can also be refilled.

The closed system means lower use of detergents for cleaning, which leads to a reduced environmental impact, said KBA.

The Genius is available in Australia through Jet Technologies.
