Key outcomes for the new package include:
- A range of new digital printing competencies and the revision of existing competencies
- Environmental sustainability competencies incorporated as a core component in every qualification and the incorporation of competitive manufacturing competencies as electives
- Digital printing competencies included in the Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Printing) as elective units
- A Certificate II in Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Printing) and a Certificate III in Printing and Graphic Arts (Digital Printing)
These sessions, will be facilitated by industry identity Greg Grace, who will outline the competency standards and qualifications for the printing and graphics arts industry including the first-time inclusion of competency standards for the digital print sector.
According to Printing Industries, the enhancement process is a step forward for training in the Industry. The growth of the digital print sector has been substantial and prior to ICP10 there has been no formal training infrastructure available.
The Association continues that while many vendors offered sound training in their product there were no industry standards by which an employer could assess the ability and propensity of an employee or job applicant to perform the duties required by the business.
The sessions will be held in Perth (July 29), Sydney (August 3), Melbourne (August 19), Adelaide (August 25) and Brisbane (August 31).
