Printasia is a self-contained point and click kiosk system, designed to enable consumers to create professional quality, frame-ready, digital enlargements instantaneously, at a fraction of the cost and in a range of sizes previously only available through photo retailers.
The Printasia Big Prints Kiosk comes bundled with everything the retailer needs to get the service up and running immediately, including pre-loaded software; Epson Stylus PRO 7600 24″ printer and Ultrachrome inks; media card reader; Ilford Printasia media including frame-ready, pre-mounted boards and papers in a variety of surfaces such as gloss, fine art, pearl and canvas.
Scott Williams, Ilford Imaging Australasia retail product manager, says the Big Prints enlargement system was the result of Ilford’s commitment to developing value-added systems designed to allow major retailers to profit from the year on year growth of digital imaging.
“The photographic business is changing and we are continually innovating to help our customers – photographers, consumers and retailers – take advantage of these changes. Sales of film rolls and the demand for traditional processing are decreasing, with the explosion in digital photography and consumers are increasingly opting to develop their photographs on home inkjet printers,” says Williams.
“We have recognised that the inkjet paper point of purchase is an ideal opportunity for the retailer to leverage the existing customer, by providing a quick, easy, professional quality enlargement service. The Printasia Big Prints system also provides retailers with the opportunity to be a one-stop-shop for customers buying and using digital cameras.
“Similarly, camera buyers most often only visit a digital outlet store once. The Printasia Big Prints enlargement system provides the retailer with an ideal opportunity to extend their digital category and offer a service which will drive customers back into the store time and time again,” Mr Williams said.
Printasia offers convenience for the customer providing a while you wait service, with the image being uploaded and printed by in-store personnel within minutes. Satisfaction is guaranteed, as the system hands the ‘control’ back to the customer for final print approval clicking on the easily operated graphic user interface.
With Printasia Big Prints, consumers can complete an enlargement in minutes, which would previously have taken up to four days to be outsourced and enlarged through a photo retailer, making the system an attractive proposition for the average consumer.
Printasia’s software rip, aided by its Graphic User Interface (GUI), provides print stability and unparalleled image control. The system automatically assigns the correct ink, media and printer profile, resizes the photograph and will convert picture quality from an original, as low as one mega-pixel, to the required depth to produce a professional quality enlargements at the touch of a button.
Pictures can be downloaded from all formats of digital card, along memo sticks, CD ROMS. Flash cards and any other USB compatible tools.
The Printasia Big Prints kiosk utilises a selection of Printasia instant dry media, including Photo Glossy, Photo Pearl and Fine Art, in a variety of sizes.
“The Printasia Kiosk digital enlargement system is nothing short of groundbreaking. There is no other product available in the Australian marketplace, which makes the enlargement process as accessible to the consumer and provides the same level of quality for an equivalent price,” says Williams.
“It takes the enlargement process from being a lengthy, expensive and largely unpredictable procedure in which the customer cannot see the visual appeal or quality of their enlargement until days after order, to one that is instantaneous and takes the control out of the hands of the professional, allowing the customer to drive the process.”
