IPMG scores 400k Census contract

The contract includes a print total of more than 30 million items made up of Census Guides, Dwelling Cards, Refusal Reports, and Obligation Statements, which will be printed by Craft Imprint based in Sydney and Brisbane.

Brad Jones ACT manager for IPMG told Australian Printer one of the major factors that saw IPMG score contract was its successful history with the governments Census printing work.

He says, “It was a public tender and I know a lot of people responded to it but I think we had the edge because of our successful track record with the Census as we have printed the last two. It’s a major government programme which will enable us to firmly establish ourselves in the government print market.”

According to Jones, the applicants for the Census tender are run through a rigorous evaluation process, which incorporates company performance, work capability, financial stability, disaster recovery and environmental impact.

Jones continues, “The tender process was very thorough because the government wants to make sure they are putting the work in the hands of the right company.”

Craft Imprint has already begun printing the Census items with the job expected to wrap up in mid June. Asked what’s next for IPMG, Jones responded with IPMG’s application for an upcoming print contract for the Electoral Commission, which could be worth anywhere between $1.5m and $25m.

He says, “The work for the government election is a major contract and I think we have a good chance of getting it because of our experience and the tight time-frame for the work. The job has to be completed and delivered in 19 days and there aren’t many printers out there that can do that.”
