JL Lennard buys Walls assets

Packaging equipment seller and JL Lennard has bought service contracts, staff, and assets from Walls Machinery (Walls), following the latter entering voluntary administration.

Following the purchase JL Lennard is now selling Fuji Flow wrapping machines, Anritsu product inspection equipment, and Freemantle cartoning machines, across Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Islands.

Nine new staff members have been added to JL Lennard from Walls, across the servicing and sales teams.

The new product editions complement Lennard’s lineup of Rovema, Fawema, Korsch, Silverson, Multipond, Bossar, and Darra packaging and processing machinery.

David Boekemann, managing director, JL Lennard, says, “Walls went into voluntary administration in November. We were approached about buying them, and ended up purchasing certain assets.

“That was all finalised on the 21st of December.

“We are also in discussions with previous suppliers of Walls, and negotiating with them at the moment.

“Walls is a business that was in business for 84 years, a third generation company.  JL Lennards is 140 years old, and also a third generation company.

“They are similar businesses, in slightly overlapping areas, which makes the acquisitions a good fit, complementing our customer base with a whole other customer base.

“It gives us a real purpose in the market. We had five of our own service people before the purchase, and we now have 10 across the country.

“The New Zealand operations have grown as well.”
