The new KBA Rapida 205 can take a sheet size of 1,500 x 2,050mm (59″ x 80″). Earlier this year MAN Roland launched its new size 7, 7B and size 8 large format R900 presses to compete with KBA in the big sheet sector,a sector that MAN Roland had previously dominated with its Roland 800 machines. However MAN Roland has no plans to further increase its size offerings.
JCM sees itself, justifiably, as a pioneer of poster printing technology, and believes that this has enabled it to become one of the market leaders, particularly in billboards. On average the presses churn out 10,000 posters a day, most of them four-colour B12 (2,685 x 1,280mm/105″ x 50″) which in Switzerland are pasted up in three sections across their width. JCM also produces B200 (Euroformat) posters – either as conventional 1,175 x 1,700mm (46″ x 67″) wet-hung posters or as 1,900 x 1,700mm (74″ x 67″) one-piece illuminated displays (B200L) – and giant posters measuring 3,880 x 2,950mm (152″ x 116″), with six instead of the usual nine sections.
