KBA triples inkjet range

KBA is tripling its stable of inkjet printers with the launch of two new high-volume reel-fed machines next month, aimed at commercial printers.

The RotaJET L and VL follow the German manufacturer’s first foray into inkjet with the RotaJET 76 a year ago, and signal increased interest in the digital sector, with web offset sales still flagging.

The new RotaJET L is available in five different web widths from 895 to 1300mm and the company says future generations of printheads can be retrofitted and it can be upgraded to the maximum printing width and colour content as technology advances.

“Users can thus react quickly and economically to changing demands without needing to invest in entirely new kit,” KBA says.

“Additionally, it can be flexibly configured to suit all fundamental application areas in the high-volume digital printing segment.”

The RotaJET VL is a bigger version based on both the 76 and L and has a printing width of 1.6m to more than 2m for industrial applications.

The printers will be launched at the Hunkeler Innovationdays on February 23-26 in Lucerne, Switzerland, and are expected to be KBA’s major focus at the event.

KBA is the only offset press manufacturer that has launched an inkjet print system. Among its rivals Heidelberg is working on a sheetfed B1 inkjet press with Fujifilm which is almost certain to be at drupa next year.

manroland has a partnership with Oce which sees the two companies provide end to end systems with Oce printers and manroland folders, while Komori is in a partnership with Benny Landa, providing the metal for the proposed new nano presses.
