Kockums makes handling safe and easy

Shaun Raebel, project engineer at Kockums, says, “We are here to increase our profile in the print, packaging and sign industries and to tap into a new marketplace.

The company supplies material handling solutions. He says, “Our vacuum lifters and electric lift carts are imported as components from Sweden and we manufacture the structure in Australia. We do the installations. We aren’t selling off the stand. We really have to do consultations at the clients’ premises before we can determine the best solution for them. We are not catalogue sellers. We provide full service and support, Australia wide and also New Zealand.

“Any company that is handling material that weighs more than 20kgs should look at what we offer. Basically, this is a lot safer. Worksafe has determined that the average cost of a back injury is about $45,000 – the statistics are readily available on its website. We supply to food, timber, manufacturing, and chemical industries and we can see a need in print, packaging and signage industries. The vacuum lifters we have on display were the first in the world.”

“Just walking around the convention centre, we have seen people struggling with rolls of material. There is potential for injury in print, packaging and signage businesses with materials that require lifting.

He has been impressed with the reaction of visitors to the equipment. He concludes, “The show has been worthwhile for us. We have received a good volume of enquiries.”
